Last Weeks Visit To The Peaks

The Peak District is one of my all time favorite place's to visit, especially when the weathers good, which here in the north of the UK is extremely rare. I am also very lucky to live right near them in Sheffield. Since moving to Sheffield for university two years ago I have visited on many occasions, and each time I love discovering a new part of them. The peaks are so big every time I go I get to see and explore a whole new area. When I woke up last Tuesday and the sun was beaming through my window, I woke up my boyfriend and told him we must make the most of it. We packed up my car with snacks and water and headed towards the glorious peaks. We'd once visit a part of the peak district called Derwant Valley, last summer, it was so beautiful we thought we'd visit again. When arriving at Derwant Valley, it was my brilliant idea to rent bikes and cycle round the glorious lake, to my horror we was told the cycle track around the valley was 12 miles long, I was so tempted to change my mind and turn around! For me, someone extremely unfit, who never exercises and promises each week to start becoming more active, even a 5 mile cycle would be too much, nevertheless Fred persuaded me to continue and so I did. All 12 miles.

Although it was a struggle, and at time I really did not think I would make it to the end, even thought someone would have to come and rescue me, I made it, and I was bloody chuffed when it was over. It was to be fair an absolute gorgeous day, and it has since pushed me to become more outdoorsy. Even if I did ache for 3 whole days after, it was worth it, worth the sore legs and the bruised bum from such a horrible hard bike seat, the views were incredible and I would highly recommend a visit.
